Florian’s Director worked as a Fire Engineer in Brisbane from 2007 to 2011 (whilst there, his two daughters were born at the Mater Hospital, so there is a strong Queensland connection)
David is a Chartered Fire Engineer and has Queensland RPEQ (Member No. 12208), which means he can develop Performance Based Alternative Solutions in Queensland.
Approximately 30% of Florian’s work in 2012 to 2016 was from Queensland.
In addition to Brisbane, Florian has undertaken work in the Gold Coast, Proserpine, Hamilton Island, Hervey Bay, Toowoomba and also various remote rural areas.

Approximately 10% of Florian’s work in 2012 to 2016 was from South Australia .
David Sloan was the second Chartered Fire Engineer in SA.
Currently in SA, there is no requirement for any person undertaking ‘fire engineering’ to have any academic Fire Engineering qualifications.
Compare this to NSW or Queensland for example, where someone would be required to obtain a Graduate Diploma in Fire Engineering, also to commonly have an Engineering Undergraduate Degree and to be a Member of Engineers Australia. They would then have to obtain Chartership through Engineers Australia, and finally then satisfy additional State based requirements before receiving the State based accreditation required to practise in that State.
In SA, it is very common for a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy company, offering services such as electrical, mechanical and services to also be awarded any Performance Based ‘fire engineering’. These consultancy companies may then, for example undertake some ‘fire engineering’, and then also design, install and later commission fire systems, such as detection and sprinkler systems. They provide in effect a ‘one stop shop’ service.
It is far more common in other States to subcontract out specialised and experienced ‘Fire Engineers’ to develop Performance Based Alternative Solutions at the Design Stage of a project. The multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy companies can then still undertake their detailed design of various systems using the Fire Engineering Report (FER) developed by the specialist Fire Engineer.
So there are other options to the ‘one stop shop’ approach.
SA Fire Engineering work undertaken includes:
Florian has also undertaken both fire engineering and bushfire design on various Class 1 buildings.

David is also a specialist member of the (SA) Building Rules Assessment Commission (BRAC).
